Playoffs 2018
SCHEDULE CHANGES
Feb 19th has been cancelled. These games have been rescheduled for Feb 25th and March 1st 6pm
March 1st 6pm has been moved to March 4th
Start Date---March 5th
SCHL 2017-18 Playoffs
---Ensure all players have ID with them at all games in case they are required to show proof of who they have signed in as. If a player cant show his ID or is signed in as someone else the game will be forfeited immediately
----Any game misconduct or misconduct penalty received in the last 5 minutes of the game or Overtime will result in a 1 game suspension
PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
a. Players must have submitted a waiver,
b. Played 3 game prior to December 1st
c. Be on the teams CARHA insurance form, as a regular player
d. Have played at least 12 games
---To be eligible for playoffs, players must be 18 years of age or older by December 31st, 2017 of the current season.
TIES IN STANDINGS – 2 OR MORE TEAMS
In the event of a tie in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season or after a playoff round robin, final results will be decided by:
a) head-to-head record against the team(s) you are tied with;
b) most wins;
c) goal differential (goals for minus goals against);
d) least goals against;
e) least penalty minutes (average per game);
f) coin toss.
Each time one team has been advanced using this method, revert back to the start of 2.tiebreaking procedures to break the remaining tie(s).
Playoff Forfeits
---Any team forfeiting there playoff game will be responsible for the Forfeit Fee of $90 which must be paid prior to their next game
Playoff Format---double elimination---All teams guaranteed 2 games
---all teams start on A side.
---1st loss drops you down into B side
---win you move on in your respective bracket
---2nd loss you are eliminated
---Final---Winners of the A side and B side will play each other. The B side winner must win 2 games to be crowned the champion , where as the A side winner will only have to win 1 game to be crowned the champion
PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY – PLAYERS
PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY IS RESTRICTED TO ONE SCHL DIVISION (Except Goalies). For players skating with more than one team, the highest division they are participating in will be used to determine eligibility (e.g. a player that plays for an ‘A’ team and a ‘C’ team will be restricted to the ‘A’ team roster during the playoffs, assuming conditions of rule 2.2 are met). If both team are in the same division, the player can’t play with team #2 until team #1 has been eliminated
PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY – SPARE GOALTENDERS
In the playoffs, a team may enlist any playoff eligible goaltender as a spare so long as they are playoff eligible with another SCHL team . The spare goaltender can only be used by the team if their full-time (or eligible backup) goaltender is unavailable. Permission must be received from the league in order to use the goalie
PLAYOFF GAMES-OVERTIME
Period 3---5 minutes (stop time) 3 on 3 + goaltender
Period 4---shootout 3 shooters
For period 4 the following will occur:
· Goalies do not change ends;
· The home team will choose which team shoots first;
· Referees use CHA procedures for penalty shot.
---Player changes are permitted during play stoppages.
---Any penalty in the fourth period, that has not expired, will eliminate the penalized player from shootout participation.
---After a player has taken their shot, he/she must report to the penalty box and not return to the players’ bench.
---Following the first three shooters, sudden victory will decide the game winner (i.e. one team scores, the other does not). All players must shoot before any player takes a second shot. . Once the team with the shortest bench uses all their players BOTH teams can start using players a 2nd time
LEAGUE FINAL
Period 3---5 minutes (stop time) 4 on 4 sudden victory
Period 4---5 minutes (stop time) 3 on 3 sudden victory
Period 5---Shootout 5 shooters
